Kate will visit RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on Wednesday to meet some of the military personnel and civilians who took place in Operation PITTING.

This British operation ran between August 14 and 28 and saw the evacuation of civilians from Afghanistan after the Taliban seized back power in the country.

While at the base, Kate will meet people who have been directly involved in the largest humanitarian aid operation run by the UK over the past seven decades. Among them, there will be RAF aircrew and medics who helped people at Kabul airport.

The Duchess will also speak to civilians and volunteers who established a repatriation centre at the RAF base in Oxfordshire and continued to provide support and supplies to those fleeing Afghanistan.

The US-led operation to evacuate people in the wake of the return of the Taliban by air ended on August 31. More than a total of 123,000 civilians were evacuated by Western forces.

The Ministry of Defence said at the end of last month it had flown out of the country more than 15,000 people – including some 8,000 Afghans. This latest exodus from the country comes on top of the 2.2 million Afghan refugees who had already escaped to neighbouring countries over the years.

Moreover, some 3.5 million people have been forced to flee their homes but have remained within the borders of Afghanistan. Royal fans welcomed Kensington Palace’s latest announcement on Kate’s return.

One wrote on Twitter: “Yaay very important cause to be her first engagement since her summer break started.” Another said: “Well done Catherine.”

And a third added: “Guess who’s back y’all!!!! Yes! Duchess of Cambridge”. Kate was last seen in public on July 11, when she attended the Wimbledon Men’s Singles final during the afternoon and the EURO 2020 final at Wembley later that same evening with Prince William and Prince George.

Kate Middleton is reportedly helping Meghan Markle cope with her family in the News
By resuming royal visits, Kate will quash speculation surrounding the reason of her prolonged absence from the public eye.

Royal commentator Russell Myers recently acknowledged people have been questioning whether the Duchess’s absence had anything to do with a new pregnancy – but dismissed the possibility.

However, he told Today Australia: “I think this is a few people mischief-making, asking where the royal are. “Well, I can exclusively reveal probably nothing.

“I think that the Duchess isn’t pregnant, I think that some people have been asking the question of where has Kate been? “But where the truth really lies is they have been on holiday.”

According to sources, Kate, William and their three children spent a few days over the summer on the Isles of Scilly, similarly to what they did last year. Vanity Fair also claimed the Cambridges spent the last week of August at Balmoral Castle for a traditional Scottish stay with the Queen.

Finally, the magazine also reported a source claiming to have spotted Kate and Prince William teaching George, Charlotte and Louis how to sail in Norfolk. While the Duchess will return to royal engagements tomorrow, Prince William resumed them last week, when he visited Dockhead Fire Station in south London to mark Emergency Services Day.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte also returned to school at Thomas’s Battersea, while Prince Louis resumed his classes at Willcocks Nursery School.
