The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly were introduced by mutual friend Markus Anderson at central London’s Soho House in early June 2016 and Harry proposed the following year.
After announcing their engagement, the couple gave an interview to the BBC’s Mishal Husain from their home Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
During the interview, Meghan praised the Royal Family, The Queen and her future sister-in-law Kate Middleton for all being so welcoming.
Describing how there was period of time where they kept their romance under wraps, Harry said Prince William was desperate to meet his girlfriend.
He said: William was longing to meet [Meghan] and so was Catherine, so you know, being our neighbours, we managed to get that in quite a few times now and Catherine has been absolutely.
Meghan interrupted Harry mid-sentence to describe Kate as “wonderful”.
Prince Harry then said both Prince William and Prince Charles had been “amazing” and then there’d been “a handful of teas and meetings and all sorts of gatherings over at his place as well.”
The former Suits actress revealed she’d met The Queen before the engagement was announced and was full of praise for Her Majesty.
She said: To be able to meet her through [Harry’s] lens, not just with his honour and respect for her as the monarch, but the love that he has for her as his grandmother.
All of those layers have been so important for me so that when I met her I had such a deep understanding and of course incredible respect for being able to have that time with her.
She’s an incredible woman.
