Roman Reigns To Appear On WWE Raw Next Week

WWE clearly still views Madison Square Garden as their “home arena,” as evidenced by Monday’s news that Roman Reigns will make a rare Raw appearance on next week’s show at MSG.

Despite being the Undisputed WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion, having unified both “world” titles on Raw and SmackDown, Reigns has been appearing almost exclusively on the blue brand since WrestleMania 38 (and even then, those appearances have been sporadic recently). This has left Raw with a vacuum of no world champion for the vast majority of weeks.

Reigns’ Bloodline brethren, the Usos, have picked up the slack, showing up weekly on Raw since they hold both the Raw and SmackDown tag titles, but that has mostly been in furtherance of their feud with the Street Profits.

The Tribal Chief is set to clash with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam in a Last Man Standing match that is being billed as their last encounter. After numerous world title matches between the two during the past seven years, it’s highly unlikely this is the last time they’ll ever meet, regardless of the billing. After all, WWE loves to go back to a cash cow whenever it can.

But for Monday, WWE is hoping Reigns’ appearance can juice ticket sales, as well as ratings for next week’s go-home Raw before SummerSlam.
